LAWRENCE PRATT

Lawrence has worked with numerous start-up businesses in Costa Rica, and as a consultant in sustainable finance and value chains.  He is a Professor at INCAE in Costa Rica in the area of business strategy, and previously directed INCAE’s think tanks.  INCAE is ranked by Financial Times as one of the top ten international business schools in the world. As the CEO of bioTD S.A. he brought several products successfully to U.S. FDA approval.

AGUSTÍN BÜCHERT

Agustín leads the product development pipeline, regulatory strategy, customer support and improvement of existing products.  He trained as a biotechnology engineer before completing his PhD in biotechnology and molecular biology at the Universidad Nacional de General San Martín in Argentina at the top of his class, followed by an MBA from INCAE Costa Rica.

ROBIN WISCOVITCH

Robin has 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, during which he’s directed manufacturing, quality control, regulatory affairs, engineering, marketing, distribution and R+D.  His last startup Home Diagnostics, a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of diabetes management, was acquired by Nipro, a leading publicly listed Japan-based global health care company.

NÉSTOR ZÚÑIGA ARIAS

Néstor received his MBA from the University of CR and has worked as a local financial trader and consultant.  He has served as external financial advisor to several of the country's largest institutions including ICE and Banco Nacional de Costa Rica.  For the past 10 years, Néstor has facilitated creative financing solutions for various development projects locally.

ALEJANDRO MARTÍNEZ SOTO

Alejandro has been a partner in and provided finance and administration services to many business projects and manages BDA financial and administrative matters.  Alejandro was a co-founder of First Costa Rican Title and Trust, where he was responsible for administration, and the management and disbursement of tens of millions of dollars for property transactions and supervision of escrow accounts.

STEPHAN RECHTSCHAFFEN

Stephan Rechtschaffen, MD – Stephan co-founded the Omega Institute, which offers classes and programs to over 25,000 people a year at their 75 hectare campus in upstate New York. Omega’s workshops, conferences, and retreats create dialogues on the integration of modern medicine and natural healing. More recently Stephan founded Blue Spirit Costa Rica in Nosara to provide an extraordinary setting to support retreats, workshops, and training programs.

In memory of CHARLES GOHMANN

Charles was a seasoned entrepreneur and enterprise design specialist with over forty years of international business experience.  In 1997, Charles had been recruited to manage a Costa Rican reforestation project.  He subsequently co-founded and served as CEO of First Costa Rican Title & Trust.  Since 2005, Mr. Gohmann had focused on financing and business development activities and had worked with innovative companies in the life sciences and hospitality sectors.

Charles was a founder of ClearLeaf. He has passed on July 23rd, 2019. He will be greatly missed for his generous spirit and brilliant mind.

CARLOS LARA ROJAS

Carlos is an Agricultural Engineer, with more than 20 years of experience introducing innovative molecules into the agricultural sector. He has worked in multiple companies in the Region providing technical advice for different agricultural crops. He has served as Sales Manager of the 18 Agroveterinario Dos Pinos stores. Additionally, he has been Sales Manager of the pest control division at Ecolab and the Manager of promotion and development of new agrochemical molecules for Central America for Industrias Bioquim. Carlos also has a vast knowledge and experience in the design and management of evaluation trials for new products and technologies.

DIEGO FERNANDO LUNAR ADAMES

Diego, a current undergraduate from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, is an agronomy engineer with knowledge and experience in perennial crops, such as coffee and asparagus, and temporary crops, such as corn and rice. Diego is currently carrying out research projects in Colombia, with a primary focus on the biostimulation of rice, potato, and avocado crops.

MANUEL KLINGER

Manuel oversees the international sales force efforts for ClearLeaf. He joined the company in 2019 as an strategic partner and technical sales expert to leverage his long term international connections and relationships. His focus so far has being developing the Latin American market. Before joining ClearLeaf, Manuel has being a sales specialist in the competitive industries of packaging, technology and consumer goods. He has over 30 years of sales and business development experience. Manuel holds a Business Administration degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Bogotá. Manuel is also a very skillful early and medium stage investor in many different ventures.

MAX RODRÍGUEZ ALPÍZAR

Max Rodríguez Alpízar, MBA, is a professional in Agricultural Sciences trained at the Escuela de Agricultura de la Región Tropical Húmeda (School of Agriculture of the Humid Tropical Region or EARTH). With more than 10 years of experience in the area of ​​crop protection and nutrition, he has worked with both transnational and local companies always in the search for effective solutions for agricultural production. Always in relation with agricultural production, he has been an advisor to various companies, making important technological contributions for a more efficient and sustainable agriculture.

José Pablo is a partner in Axioma Estudio Legal in San Jose, Costa Rica - he has more than 10 years of experience in the natural resources sector, with a focus on corporate and commercial matters with an emphasis on the environment, energy and natural resources, regulatory and contractual issues, as well as in corporate compliance and liability cases.

Melanie is a digital marketing & communication strategy consultant in Samara, Costa Rica. After more than 20 years of journalism, including 9 years as a star radio debater in Morroco, talking daily about geopolitics, economy, and news, Melanie founded and runs the cultural project Culture Augmentée to advocate for Peace & Human Rights through culture & debate. Now in Costa Rica, she offers her services to help public personalities, companies & organizations enhance their communication strategy and their online presence.

JUAN LUIS CALDERÓN QUIROS

Juan Luis coordinates logistics and inventory for ClearLeaf. Previously, he was Administrative Coordinator for PBW Biologica S.A. where he oversaw import and export, logistics, purchasing, and inventory management. He is from Alajuela, Costa Rica and has created numerous small businesses.

MARIANO NARANJO MASIS

Mariano is an Agricultural Engineer with an emphasis in Agricultural Economics from the University of Costa Rica. He has worked as a consultant in the implementation of sustainable quality programs for Coffee (Rainforest Alliance, coffee practices, Fairtrade), and has collaborated for the Centro de inteligencia  sobre mercados sostenibles (Sustainable market intelligence center o CIMS) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture. He also was a consultant for the Nespresso AAA Program for almost 6 years.

 

JOSE RAFAEL HERRERA MESEN

Jose Rafael Herrera Mesen is a professional with more than 10 years of experience in the management of plant tissue culture laboratories, both in the private and public spheres. He works with several state institutions (MAG, MTTS, IMAS, INA, DETCE) in the drafting and execution of projects related to agricultural biotechnology, food security, rural development, technical education and adaptation to climate change. For eight years, he was in charge of managing the plant tissue culture laboratory of the Turrubares CTP, and is now the technical coordinator of the Turrubares CTP.
